Welcome to our class blog. This is where we will make updates about the different things we do in our wonderful classroom!
Student Led Conferences
Over the past few weeks we have been reflecting on our learning throughout the year.
Our students are looking forward to sharing with you their achievements and their learning goals for the future.
Student led conferences will be held next week on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th August. Please book a time with your child’s class teacher via Compass.
We look forward to seeing you there.
THANK YOU!
I would like to thank everyone for their support this year. How lucky I was to have such a fantastic grade. I have learnt so much and cannot wait to put these things into practice next year. Thank you to the parents for their kind words of encouragement throughout the year. Most of all to everyone in 1/2C thank you for helping me learn and for reminding me when I was forgetful (for example- with things like the Kiddy Mail- sorry Millie!).

Mahalia’s adventures with Ted!
After school I went to Victoria Gardens and I went to the pet shop with Mahalia. I saw the cats and then the bunnies. I didn’t know how many animals there were in the world! I saw the fish and I had a photo with the puppies, the parrots were too scared I accidentally went on the counter and nearly was bought! We had dinner and went to bed.
Day two: I had a ride on a reindeer, I climbed to the top of the lemon tree and bounced on the trampoline. I met some new friends, I played dress ups. I had adventures and dinner, then I went to bed.
Potato people!
This week, our learning intentions have been all about narratives and specifically about how an author describes the characters personalities. We read the book ‘Potato People’ by Pamela Allen. In the book, the character ‘Jack’ goes to visit his Grandma. Because it is a rainy day, they decide to make some ‘potato people’. They use potatoes for the bodies and heads and pins for eyes. We wondered about these characters… We asked questions like: if the potatoes could speak, what would they be saying to each other? If they could eat, what would be their favourite food?
We then got to make our very own potato people. We had to use descriptive words to describe our characters and then we made sure our characters looked just like the way we had described them!
Tomorrow we are going to make ‘character profiles’ for our potato people and use them as characters in out narratives for writing!

Capacity!
We are learning all about ‘capacity’ in Numeracy at the moment. Today we looked at ‘1 litre’ bottles and worked out how many cups fit into one litre. We also compared different sized containers, seeing how many cups of water will fit into them. We noticed that even if a container looks taller than another, sometimes it actually has less capacity because it is not as WIDE! Looks can be deceiving in this case!
We then had a challenge from Cobie: we had to make a container that held around 90 pieces of popcorn. We made our containers from paper and sticky tape. It had to be exactly the right size- not too big and not too small! We had so much fun making our containers!
Of course, we got to eat the popcorn at the end! 🙂

Sam’s adventures with Ted E!
First I met Sam’s dogs Charlie and Ralf, they are by nice dogs. I liked them- Ralf is so cute. Another time I time I went swimming! It was very fun. After that we played cricket. I caught Sam out! Them we went inside and Sam wrote in a book that had a picture of me in it. After I played cricket I got to play on Sam’s guitar it was very big for me but I didn’t care. I got to okay Zoom Galigali on his piano it’s very hard! But it is also very exciting and fun. It was so amazing doing all the things that I did. I’m sad to leave his house but ill be very happy to go to someone else’s house!

Ted E’s adventures with Casey
On the first day when I came out of the class room, I was playing in the playground, when we were playing if was almost time to go so I got ready and we went home to Casey’s house. When we arrived home I met some new friends. Then we went shopping and I saw some some fruit, I tried to nibble it but it was covered in plastic! We then went home and had dinner, then we brushed our teeth and read a story. Soon I went to bed with Casey and had a great sleep!
Day 2
When I wake up Casey wakes up too and in the morning I get ready for school and so does Casey. Today is a school day but I’m staying at Casey’s house! Casey could stay with me today which was very lucky. Casey drew a drawing of me, then we had breakfast, then a cup of hot chocolate. After that, I climbed the Christmas tree in the shops and the shop keeper wanted me to stay so I could keep him company!
I then saw the biggest Christmas tree in the world, I tried to climb to the top but I got too tired so I stopped and got down. Then we picked up Casey’s little sister and went to Office Works.
HWPS Christmas Carnival!

YOU are invited to our Christmas Carnival that is happening THIS friday! Level two is performing the ’12 Days of Christmas’ we have worked VERY hard learning all the words and actions. Don’t miss out! See you then!
Back to back shapes!
We have now finished our unit on shapes for this year! We learnt so much about 2D AND (especially) 3D shapes. We can name and describe most of them! One of our favourite activities was when we built different shapes with sticks and play doh.
As our final activity, we had to follow the directions of our partner and draw different shapes. It was surprisingly tricky to describe all the characteristics of our shapes using the special ‘shape language’ like sides, corner and faces. Our partner had to draw EXACTlY what we drew just by following our directions!
Coming up next….. ‘Location’ (left, right, diagonal, straight, north, south, east and west)…. Stay tuned!
